| Rewinding and reusing the Cleaning Media is safe under most circumstances, however, for maximum safety change the Cleaning Media once expended. The decision to rewind or replace must be determined by the operator. Quantifying the length of film each roll will service is impossible since this is relative to the type and amount of dirt on the films.
Cleaning Media (left) is supplied on "notched" cores (right) to facilitate rewinding the media once depleted. The Media Spindle utilizes a Plastic Take-Up Core which is not notched (center). The Plastic Coupler Core interlocks with the Plastic Take-Up Core, and is used for rewinding.
Note: 16mm Cleaning Media is made from 35mm media, so the "coupling notch" (right) is only present on half of the rolls while the other half has no notch (center). Replace with an empty notched core to rewind if required.
Important: Loosely wound Cleaning Media will "cinch" on the core making accurate tensioning impossible. Ensure the Cleaning Media is wound tightly on the Plastic Core. |
